Gonstead DVDs
The Gonstead VHS tapes were made from the original reel to reel 3/4 tapes and are the most original tapes that were made in black and white at the peak of Dr. Gonstead's teaching/practicing career.
These tapes were ahead of their time and we had to have special reel to reel recorders to play them. They were recorded from 1968 through 1978. All facets of his system are represented in these films.
Unfortunately, none of the reel to reel recorders survived that could play these tapes from the old signal/format. All video signals/formats were changed to a singular type of format in the 1980's. That put us behind on producing these tapes on any other kind of format because the transition had to be dealt with and the technology was not advanced far enough at that time.
Dr. Gonstead passed away in August of 1978 at 80 years of age.
During the 70's, up until the change over in the 80"s, we were able to make a few copies of the VHS tapes from the original reel to reel tapes. They were very costly and we produced a limited number of them. Fortunately, a lot of changes have occured since then.
Technology has come a long way since the 70's and 80's and we are now able to bring you the original Gonstead Teaching VHS tapes in a more modern format.
Since some of this new technology has finally come about, we are now able to bring you these VHS tapes on a DVD FORMAT. All tapes have been cleaned up as much as is possible. Minor blurs or an occasional "roll" occurs on the original VHS tapes but they do not interfere with the content on the new DVD's.
